A woman with numerous medical issues presented to a hand surgeon with ongoing right thumb pain.

She was right-hand dominant.

Hand therapy did not provide any relief.

Eventually, an arthrodesis of the MCP of the right thumb was recommended.

Following the surgery, the patient continued to have pain and the joint was not completely fused.

A lawsuit was filed…
